Our Roots
We opened our doors on October 28th 2008 with one goal in mind: providing an enjoyable dining experience to the Olde Towne Portsmouth area. Thanks to our experience and dedication, we’ve managed to become masters of the craft. Providing dishes that are fresh, elegant and simply unforgettable.
OUR CHEF
SHALIEK BROWN
Shaliek was born in the Bronx. He comes from a large family, the 5th of 11 siblings. From an early age, Shaliek enjoyed cooking for his family...
He grew up in the kitchen, observing and helping his parents and grandmother cook. He always loved the camaraderie and playful banter of the kitchen.
Shaliek moved to Virginia at 12 years old. He graduated from Churchland high school, then enrolled in The Culinary Institute of Virginia, and graduated in 2013.
Chef Shaliek's love and passion for food is a journey... After graduating culinary school, he worked his way up in restaurants, from prep and pantry jobs, up to grill and sauté. Shaliek became sous chef here at Still, working with chef Mike Farrell... We now welcome him as the head of our Still kitchen.
He wishes to learn new food cultures and more traditional styles of cooking. Eventually he'd like to open his own business, a restaurant his family can call their own.
